Your firm is also providing consultancy services to a local Distribution Network Operator (DNO). The DNO is concerned about steady-state voltage drop at the end one of their Medium Voltage (MV) feeders, in a particular network shown in Figure 2, and are asking for advice on this. The area of concern is marked with a circle close to the end of MV Feeder 1 . The network comprises various loads, including electric vehicles (EVs), heat pumps (HP), electrical energy storage (EES) in the form of batteries, and some renewable sources in the form of a Wind Farm and a photovoltaic (PV) cluster. In a first team meeting about this, one of your colleagues is suggesting to correct the voltage problem by changing the tap of the transformers connecting the high voltage (HV) and MV sides of this network. Your manager comments that this could potentially lead to a problem in this network, but then leaves to join another call. 5) What could be a potential problem if your colleague's suggestion was to be adopted? Justify your answer. [10 Marks] 6) Suggest an alternative solution that could be adopted to treat this voltage drop. Justify your answer highlighting benefits and potential drawbacks of the solution proposed. [15 Marks! Figure 2
