13-7. In a 6-ft-high pressurized-water reactor core the coolant pressure is not to exceed 1,900 psia. The fuel is in the form of pins 0.45 in. in diameter, clad in 0.025-in.-thick Zircaloy 2. The maximum volumetric thermal source strength in the core is 4 x 107 Btu/hr ft³. The heat-transfer coefficient between coolant and cladding is 6000 Btu/hr ft² °F. The coolant mass rate of flow per fuel rod is a constant 3,370 lbm/hr. Find the maximum temperature of the coolant entering the core if boiling is to be avoided. Neglect the extrapolation lengths.
