what is your opinion about this post
in nursing I am interested in the topic, assess the living
environment as it relates to the functional, physical, cognitive,
psychological, and social needs of older adults. In any population,
there is a need for assistance in this area. In the elderly
especially often this population can get overlooked. As people age,
many are unaware of the degradation of their health and
environment. What once worked for a healthy living environment does
not work anymore. Many times patients are brought into the hospital
and discharged really not having enough support at home to maintain
optimal health. Often it is hard to make changes, lack of support,
cognitive impairment causes unrecognizable hazards or health risks.
Many elderly have no one looking after them or resources to find
help. This topic is interesting as there are many facets to it and
many ways to reach out to the community to improve these
circumstances.
