has been diagnosed with chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease 5 years ago. Mrs McDonald has had increasing
shortness of breath, productive cough and fever for the last 7
days. Her GP commenced her on oral antibiotics and prednisone
4 days ago. On admission to the Emergency Department the
