EMTs must pass two tests (psychomotor and written) each
year to remain a certified EMT. A random sample of scores was
selected from the EMS Council. Data concerning the psychomotor
scores (out of 82 points) and written scores (out of 150 points)
are provided below. A researcher is interested in
understanding the relationship between the two.
Psychomotor
Written
1.Use the five-step hypothesis testing procedure given
below to determine if there is evidence of a relationship
between Psychomotor and written scores in the
population of EMS Council. Use
Pearson’s r. All calculations should be conducted
in Minitab. (Please explain how to input data into
MiniTab)
a. check assumptions and write
hypothesis.
b. compute test statistic (using minitab)
c. determine p-value (using minitab)
d. reject or fail to reject null hypothesis
e. state a real world conclusion
f. Compute the coefficient of determination for the
relationship between Written and Psychomotor scores.
(using minitab)
g. Interpret the coefficient of determination that you
computed in part F.
