The system depicted in Figure 1 consists of a rigid tank connected to a piston cylinder device with zero clearance by means of a valve. Tank A has a volume of 120 L and contains saturated vapor R134a at 24°C. The mass of the piston is such that a pressure of 200 kPa is required to raise the piston. The valve is opened slightly and R134a is allowed to flow into the cylinder until the pressure in the tank drops to 200 kPa. During this process heat is exchanged with the surroundings such that the entire temperature of R134a remains at 24°C at all times. Determine a) Work done during the process b) Heat transferred to the process c) Sketch the process on a T-v and P-v diagram Tank A Tank B Figure 1
