A performance test is carried out on a 2-stroke, 4-cylinders diesel engine running on diesel oil as a fuel revealed the following data: • Brake load = 2 KN I • Brake arm length = 15 cm Crank shaft revolution per minute = 2000 Volume of liquid fuel consumed in 10.5 sec. = 60 cc Relative density of liquid diesel oil = 0.78 • Fuel composition is 84% by mass C and 16 % by mass Hz Air consumption = 3.75 kg/min Heating value of fuel = 44,000 kJ/kg • Atmospheric conditions = 995 mbar, and 25 °C • Cylinder bore = 11 cm, 1/d = 0.9 • Mechanical efficiency = 85% . Calculate the following: Brake and indicated horse power, brake and indicated mean effective pressure, brake and indicated thermal efficiency, Excess air factor, brake and indicated specific fuel consumption
