(b) A 75 MW Gas turbine unit has a cycle pressure ratio of 16. An intercooler is incorporated in the cycle with each compressor section having a pressure ratio of 4. The isentropic efficiency of each compressor section is 85% and that of the turbine is 92%. The air temperature at inlet of first and second stage compressor is 288K and 300K respectively. Turbine inlet temperature is 1250K. 80% of the gases exiting the turbine are passed to a regenerator with an effectiveness of 0.8. = Assume Cp = 1.005 kJ/kg-K and y = 1.4 for compressor and combustor sections; Cp = 1.15 kJ/kg-K and y = 1.33 for the turbine. Calculate: (i) Draw the T-S diagram for this cycle. (ii) The net specific work output. (iii) The mass flow rate of gases in the turbine. (iv) Efficiency of the cycle. (2) (8) (2) (8)
