QUESTION 2 The given converterhas the following
requirements: Vin: 250V Vout: 50V regulated Load power: 200W
Switching frequency: 100kHz Max. output ripple: 20mV
(a) Differentiate the difference and advantage of the
synchronous buck converter with a typical buck converter
circuit.
(b)Sketch the waveforms of the gate drive voltages G1 and G2
assuming a duty cycle of 25% and a maximum gate drive voltage of
10V. How would you prevent the two MOSFET to turn on
simultaneously.
(c)Calculate L1 and C1, stating all necessary design criteria
(e.g. value of duty cycle at the required output voltage).
(d)Describe the circuit if a capacitor is connected across the
input of the synchronous buck converter. Draw the equivalent
circuit to describe the function.
