16. In a lead-acid battery production plant, 30% of the line workers were females. Of the 15 female workers, 12 were of reproductive age. Tests have found airborne dust to be less than the permissible exposure limit, so the worksite is considered safe. Lead is a well-known reproductive hazard which can cause birth defects and learning disabilities in children. The manager of the plant has decided he does not want to take any chances and now requires female workers of reproductive age to use birth control or be taken off the production line and given a lower paying office job, and that any female worker that gets pregnant be fired immediately. Do you think this is an ethical or unethical approach and why (explain your choice)?
