2. The Isocenter of the MRI scanner is the point in space at which Bo=0 during the application of imaging gradients. Recall that in order to collect a slice from a different location in space, a higher or lower frequency pulse can be applied. If we wish use a 1.5T MRI scanner to collect a sagittal slice that is offset 2 cm in the +x direction and has 1cm slice thickness: A. Which gradient (x, y or z) will be used and when will it be applied during our pulse sequence? B. If the gradient strength applied during this pulse is 20 ml/m, then what center frequency (ū) and bandwidth (Av) must be used? C. If we wish to collect a thinner slice of 0.5cm but to keep the bandwidth the same, then what gradient strength must we use?
