1. Orbital Resonance (a) Given Jupiter's semimajor axis of 5.2 AU, calculate the semimajor axes (in AU) for asteroids in 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 orbital resonances with Jupiter. Here n:1 means the asteroid makes n orbits in the same time that Jupiter makes one orbit. (b) Calculate the synodic periods that an observer on Jupiter would measure for each of these asteroids, as multiples of a Jovian year. You may assume all orbits are circular.
