Our second "Small Talk" discussion will be to share current advances in microbiology research about the topic of microbial metabolism. Your task is to find a science article that discusses anything related to microbial metabolism, including but not limited to microbial photosynthesis, sugar catabolism, fermentation, or other metabolic processes that we have not discussed in class. You are encouraged to find a topic that is interesting to you; your instructor can help you choose an appropriate article if you are having trouble finding one that you like. Once you have a chosen article, you will create a stand-alone post. Your initial stand-alone post will need to cover the following: - Title of the article - Author of the article - When and where was it published - A summary of what was discussed in the article (aim for about 250 word summary of the main highlights of the article) - How does it article relate to what we learned in class for the week - What is the relevance of this article to the field of microbiology (why should we care?) - Post a link or citation to the article *Your instructor will make a post with an example article summary that you are welcome to take a look at before you write yours. Please do not choose the same article as your instructor. Once you create an initial post, you will be able to view other students' posts. You are tasked with continuing the discussion/conversation by replying to at least two other students' posts and giving thoughtful, meaningful replies that facilitate discussion on the topic. For more details and a rubric for how I will assess your posts, please access: BI101J Small Talk #2 - Instructions and Grading Criteria
