Part 3 – Flow Chart / Dichotomous Key
Design a Flow Chart to separate and identify the followingmouth, skin, and respiratory bacteria using the following tests. Ifyou assume Streptococcus mutans is gamma (non)-hemolytic (your labbook says either alpha or gamma), then you can completely separatethese 7 bacteria using these 4 tests. Use Section 12 in yourPhotographic Atlas lab manual to look up the differentialcharacteristics. The flow chart should look like the one in Lab 3,Part 2, Question 2.
Bacteria:
1 .Fusobacterium nucleatum
2. Neisseria meningitidis
3. Staphylococcus aureus
4. Staphylococcus epidermidis
5. Streptococcus mutans
6. Streptococcus pneumoniae
7. Streptococcus pyogenes
Tests:
1. Gram Stain (+/- and cell shape)
2. Catalase Test
3. Coagulase Test
4. Hemolysis Test
