1. A student wanted to test whether mercury (II) chromate(HgCrO4) was a water-soluble salt or not. To do this, they wanted to mix two different soluble salt solutions which, whencombined together, would precipitate HgCrO4 is it wasinsoluble. Propose a precursor ionic compound that contains mercury(II) and some other ion that would be water soluble. Propose aprecursor ionic compound that contains chromate(CrO42-) and some other ion that would bewater soluble.
2. Assuming that HgCrO4 is not water soluble, write a net ionic equation, including phase labels, for thereaction you came up with in Question 1 above.
These 2 questions go together. Please help, I especially wouldlike the specific steps on how to get the net ionic equationbecause that's the most confusing. Thank you!
