Eleven and nine samples of each mine were recorded as in the following table. - Assume the distribution of the heat-producing capacities follow normal distribution. i. Estimate the standard deviation and the average heat-producing capacities of coal from both mines. (2 marks) 5 SSCE 2193 ii. Construct a 95% confidence interval for ratio of variances of the heat-producing capacities of coal from both mines. Based on the interval estimation obtained, is there any indication that the two mines have different variability of heat-producing capacity? (6 marks) iii. Can we conclude from 99% confidence interval that the means of heat-producing capacities for coals from both mines are different? (Use the result in part (ii) as the assumption). (7 marks)
