A uniformly-distributed load w is supportedby a structure consisting of rigid bar BDF andthree rods. Rods (1) and (2) are 15-mm-diameter stainlesssteel rods that have an elastic modulusof E = 195 GPa. Rod (3) isa 23-mm-diameter bronze rod that has an elastic modulusof E = 102 GPa.Use a = 1.7 mand L = 2.6 m. For a load magnitudeof w = 40 kN/m, calculate (a) thenormal stress in each rod. (b) the vertical deflection of the rigidbar at F.
