Homework 9.2. You decide to apply your vast array of planar dynamics knowledge to help you become a better pool player. To test this knowledge, you attempt to hit the 1ball towards the pocket at A by striking it with the white cue ball. Find the angle theta required to sink the 1-ball into the pocket at A. Also, find the speed of the 1-ball after the impact assuming the cue ball had an initial speed of 2 m/s. Assume e=0.95 between the cue ball and the 1-ball. Also assume equal masses for both balls and equal radii (0.04m). Neglect friction. Hint: Theta is not just the atan of the distance values given.
