Referring to Figure Q4 of an epicyclic gear train, the numbers of teeth of the sun (S) gear and the annulus (A) gear are 50 and 130 respectively. The annulus (A) gear is fixed. The driving sun (S) gear rotates at +360rpm (clockwise) with a power of 20 kW. The efficiency of the gear train is 95%. Determine: (a) the number of teeth of planet (P) gear; (4 marks) (b) the gear ratio between the sun (S) and the arm (L); (8 marks) (c) the rotation speed and the direction of the arm (L) in RPM; (4 marks) (d) the input torque of the sun (S); (4 marks) (e) the output torque of arm (L); and (5 marks) (f) the holding torque of the gear train.
