Air is contained inside a piston-cylinder device at 500kPa and 627∘C, and it occupies a volume of 0.6 m3. The air undergoes a constant temperature process until the pressure is reduced to 250kPa. The piston is then fixed in place so that it is not allowed to move, and at the same time, heat transfer occurs between the system and its surrounding, causing the air temperature to be reduced to the ambient temperature of 27∘C. Determine: (i) the work produced; and (ii) the amount of heat transfer of the system.
