Q2-Q3: Shown here is a simple device that can be used to measure thermal conductivity k of a sample material. The device consists of a large evacuated furnace and a square container placed at the bottom of the furnace. The four sides of the container are well insulated. A sample is placed in the container and its bottom surface is maintained at a constant temperature 300K by the circulating of coolant. The sample surface is diffuse (az = £)and its spectral emissivity is Tw = 1400K, Ew = 0.7 shown here. Q2(20 pts): Determine the total emissivity and absorptivity of the sample, and the conductivity k of the sample. w = 10cm Tg = 1000K insulated Sample, L = 2cm Coolant της. Τρί Tco 1.0 0.8 3 0.2 0 0 2 8 10 4 6 1 (um)
Q3(10 pts): To assume a uniform bottom surface temperature, it requires the rise of coolant temperature not to exceed 5°C between the inlet and outlet. What is the minimum mass flow rate to meet this condition if water is used as the coolant?
