1. When landing on a carrier, a 5000 kg airplane is given a deceleration of 29.43 m/s² by means of a cable engaged by an arresting hook as shown in Figure. (i) Find the tension in the cable, the reaction R and the distance e from the center of gravity (c.g.) to the line of section of the cable. Take d=50 cm. (ii) Find the tension in the fuselage at vertical section AA and BB if the portion of the airplane forward section AA has a mass of 3500 kg and the portion aft of section BB has a mass of 500 kg. Also calculate the vertical shear force at section AA and BB.
