The selected area in Northern Amman is to be served by a water
distribution network that will recive its water from a nearby
pumping station located as shown in figure 1 below. The water will
be first flowing in a concrete lined channle on a bed slope of
0.5%, carrying a flow rate of 25 m3/s. Then reaching an
underground pumping station where it will be lifted up to reach the
community via the water distribution network. Knowing that Jordan
has recently suffered from climate change where Summer temperatures
have increased and winter has become colder.
The water leaving the pumping station is carried in a pipe to an
upstream reservoir where it will then be distributed into a pipe
network. The elevation difference between the
two reservoirs A and B is 20 m, and the pipes
parameters are as follows, knowing that the pipes are cast iron
