The final hole in a crazy golf course features a windmill through which the ball must pass via a cenitral tunnel. Viewed face-on, the tower can be modelled as an isosceles triangle of base 42 cm, and the sails as three identical sectors of a circle with radius 43.5 cm, each subtending an angle of 50∘, which line up with the sides of the tower as they spin past, as shown in the diagram below. The turmel has a square cross section of 8 by 8 cm. i. Calculate the side length of the triangular tower. [5] ii. Calculate the perimeter of one sail. [5] iii. Calculate the minimum area of tower exposed (the dark shaded region). You may approximate the exposed section of the tunnel to be rectangular. [10] Give your answers correct to 2 decimal places and state an appropriate unit. [2]
