Stress has a powerful impact on various aspects of your life.Not only can it affect your mood, energy level, relationships, andwork performance, stress can also cause and exacerbate a widevariety of health conditions. Multiple sources of stress andassociated symptoms are overwhelming Americans. Despite a yearof acclimating to a new reality and societal upheaval spurred bythe COVID-19 pandemic, Americans are struggling to cope with thedisruptions it has caused. Nearly 8 in 10 adults (78%) say thecoronavirus pandemic is a significant source of stress in theirlife, and 2 in 3 adults (67%) say they have experienced increasedstress over the course of the pandemic. When considering thephysical and emotional toll of increased stress, nearly half ofadults (49%) report their behavior has been negatively affected.Most commonly, they report increased tension in their bodies (21%),"snapping" or getting angry very quickly (20%), unexpected moodswings (20%), or screaming or yelling at a loved one (17%).Thesesymptoms may stem from stress caused by the pandemic, which iscompounded by societal stressors that have been pervasive inprevious years (Stress in America).
