Lab 3: BP MODEL 1 - Draw out the formula for BP. Include the following: AFTERLOAD, ANS, BP, BLOOD VOLUME, BLOOD VISCOSITY, CARDIAC OUTPUT, EDV, ESV, HEART RATE, PERIPHERAL RESISTANCE, PRELOAD, STROKE VOLUME, VASOCONSTRICTION, AND VASODILATION. MODEL 2 Using the diagram you made in Model 1, answer the following questions regarding blood pressure. The first one is done for you as an example. 1. How would an increase in heart rate affect blood pressure? Explain the physiological mechanism behind your answer. An increase in heart rate would cause an increase in cardiac output as more blood would be ejected from the heart each minute. Increases in cardiac output directly increase blood pressure. HR® COⓇ BP 2. Dehydration often leads to tachycardia - describe a mechanism for why this occurs.
