Why are the results of flame tests for the alkali metal ions difficult to distinguish? Buming a wood stirrer will cause an orange flame. Not all metal ions give flame colors. Nichrome wire will always produce a trace of orange/yellow colour in the Bunsen flame. Almost everybody sees and describes colors differently. Not placing the sample in the hottest part of the flame may give bad results. Some metal ions are very toxic and not safe to test.
Name the following compounds: 1. LiClO4⋅3H2O 2. CaCl2⋅2H2O 3. Ba(OH)2⋅8H2O Your answers should not include any extra spaces between words or suffixes. You answer is not case sensitive (upper and lower case does not matter).
