DATA AND OBSERVATIONS Qualitative observations should be detailed and explicit. Data (quantitative observations) should be recorded using correct significant figures and units depending on the instrument used for that measurement. 1. For each trial, determine the mass (in grams) of the water. The density of water is 1.00 g/mL at room temperature. Record these masses in Table 1 row a). 2. For each trial, calculate the water's overall temperature change. Record these temperature changes in Table 1 row b). 3. For each trial, calculate the total energy (in calories) absorbed by the water. Record these energies in Table 1 row c). 4. For each trial, calculate the total energy (in food Calories or kilocalories) required to heat the water. Record these energies in Table 1 row d). 5. For each trial, calculate the energy released, expressed as kilocalories per gram (kcal/g), of one gram of the snack chip as it burned. Record these energies in Table 1 row e). 6. Calculate the average energy released, expressed as kilocalories per gram (kcal/g), for the three trials of the snack item burned. Record this energy in Table 1 row f).
