A project developer intends to deploy a 5MW photovoltaic project and feed the generated power into the grid. The utility is proposing a feed in tariff of MUR 3.5/kWh. In which part of Mauritius do you think such a project should be deployed? Assume that the system cost for a turnkey project is MUR 50000/kW, cost of land is MUR 1M/ acre, land requirement is 2 acres/MW, operation and maintenance cost is MUR 1500/kW, the system may require replacement of power electronics costing MUR 50M in 15 years, discount rate, d=2.5% and inflation, i=3.5%, overall efficiency of the system is 80% over the life time of the project and the proposed contract period is 20 years.
