Q1 [55 marks] In Fig. 1 below assume the source voltage is vs(t)=300sin(5000ft) and R-7.592. The switch is to be controlled by the control circuit (Ctr Cir) which can produce a maximum current of 1A and voltage pulses with amplitude that changes between 0 and 5V. Assume that you have the choice to implement the circuit with BJT or a MOSFET transistors. The BJTs transistors have collector current rating of 45A, the dc current gain 3-5 and the on-voltage is 2V; and the MOSFET transistors has drain current rating of 25 A, the on-voltage drop is 2V and the threshold voltage is 2V. vs(t) R M Ctr Cir Vctr Fig. 1: the circuit of Q1. Io (a) [10 marks] Determine which type of transistors can be implemented as a switch, explain you answer. (b) [15 marks] Draw the schematic of the switch circuit (show all the connections). (c) [15 marks] Determine the power dissipation in the selected switch when it is off and when it is on. (d) [8 marks] Determine the power provided by the control circuits (Ctr Cir). (e) [7 marks] Determine the efficiency of the circuit.
