Problem Statement: Part (1)---Cognitive Domain: Consider you have been assigned to design a complete distribution system for powering up the newly approved sector of Islamabad i.e, 1-15 sector. The load survey for 1-15 sector can be accomplished based on an actual demand load of houses, Govt. apartments of 1-16 sector except the additional industrial zone to be established in 1-15. The industrial zone/phase of 1-15 sector has 5 factories in which 4 factories have the power-factor close to 0.85 but the fifth factory having three induction Motors with cumulative load demand of 25 MW load demand is working on low power factor (0.5 approx.). Design the complete distribution system with following important features/requirements of the utility IESCO based 132 KV Chitti-Abad Grid-station, Peshawar road, Islamabad. (a) Draw a Complete One-line diagram for Distribution System originating from the Substation and having all routes of one or multiple feeders and multiple distributors covering all of the houses, commercial and industrial zones of the sectors. You can use a CAD based diagram to be pasted in the CEP report. (b) Your one line diagram / CAD-based diagram of the Distribution system should have all of the essential & labeled electrical & Dimension based mechanical parameters. (c) All of the electrical & Dimension based mechanical parameters of the distribution system mentioned in part (b) should have been mentioned in tabular form supported by the detailed calculations & analysis. (d) Justify your selected distributed scheme with strong reasoning support why it would be an optimal solution for distributing of power in 1-15 sector. (e) In support of part-(d), all of the losses, voltage regulation, effect on the distribution efficiency of the existing Chitti-Abad Grid-station should be analyzed and propose for capacity addition in the substation if required. (f) Design an automatic system for compensation against the liabilities of utility the IESCO for the industrial zone. (g) For part (f), you are prohibited to use any Synchronous Condensers or Static capacitors as per the regulatory body of the industrial sector.
