20 Marks A wastewater flow of 900 mºd has 200 mg/L suspended solids. Air flotation tests show that A/S of 0.05 mg air/mg solids give optimum flotation. The design temperature is 20 °C and air solubility is 18.7 mL/L at this temperature. The fractional absorption (f) is 0.5 and the surface loading rate (SLR) is 117 mⓇ/m2.d. i) Design the flotation system by evaluating the required gauge pressure in kPa and flotation tank area in m?. [10 marks) ii) If the system is operated with recycle, design the flotation system by calculating the recycle ratio and flotation tank area in m’ if the operating gauge pressure is 2 atm.
