OBJECTIVE: Using the information provided below, find the Species Richness (R) and Shannon's Diversity (H') for the population. Points will be awarded as follows: . . . . . INSTRUCTIONS: ● . . . . . . . . . Shannon's Diversity Assignment 0.5 pts for each In (p) calculation (7 pts total) 0.5 pts for each piln(p) calculation (7 pts total) 5 pts for R 6 pts for H Total= 25 points Using a calculator find the natural log (In) for each relative frequency (p). On a standard calculator this can be done by entering the pi followed by the In button. Enter the calculation for In(p) into the corresponding blank of the table Round to fourth decimal place. Multiply each In(p) by the relative frequency (p) for each species. Enter the calculation of pin(pi) into the corresponding blank of the table. Round to the fourth decimal place. Sum all the pi In(pi) calculations and enter the value into the corresponding blank of the table. rounded to the fourth decimal place. Multiply the sum by -1 to find Shannon's Diversity (H') and enter the value into the corresponding blank. Using your notes from the Community Ecology lecture, find the Species Richness for the population and enter it into the corresponding blank. Answers MUST BE TYPED. Five points will be subtracted for handwritten, scanned documents. Download your completed assignment into the DropBox labled Shannon's Diversity Assignment by the due date. Points will be deducted for late assignments!
