Two channels are connected by 16 mm diameter bolts through a 12 mm thick gusset plate. Properties of each of the channels are as follows: A-11,032 mm d = 450 mm 18 mm 16 mm x 22 mm 1-2814 x 10 mm 1 - 7.4 x 10 mm -248 MPa -400 MPa Allowable tensile stress on the gross area = 0.60F Allowable tensile stress on the net area=0.50F Allowable shear stress on the net area=0.308 Dimensions: Bolt hole diameter 19 mm $. - 75 mm S = 75 mm Sg - 75 mm Refer to the figure below: o o S a) Determine the allowable tensile load based on yielding of the gross area. b) Determine the tensile capacity of the connection based on fracture of the critical net area. c) Determine the slenderness ratio of the section for an unbraced length of 4 m.
