Forces & First Peoples Total marks: 25 Introduction: This project will explore how the First Peoples of Canada applied forces in traditional technologies. You will also practice communicating scientific ideas to a general Canadian population. Instructions: Choose one of the tools or technologies listed below: Bow & arrow Hafting Spear thrower Toggling harpoon Ulu Bone needle Umiak Create an infographic to explain your technology of choice to an audience of average Canadian people. The following free resources are available to create infographics: ➤ Easel.ly - www.easel.ly > Piktochart - www.piktochart.com > Infogram - www.infogr.am ● Keep in mind that for this audience, you will need to define any terms that you use. You must use scientific terms that you have learned in your course so far. On your infographic, include the following: • An illustration of this technology being used by First Peoples When & where was this technology used? How was it important to the culture and/or survival of First Peoples of Canada? How can forces explain the use of this technology? How has this technology changed over time? What might be an analogous tool used in today's society? • Your sources of information Focus on making an easy to understand, visually appealing infographic that aims to teach average Canadians about forces and First Peoples traditional technologies.

Historical information is accurate and scientific explanation of forces shows a strong understanding of course concepts. At least one image of the First Peoples technology is included. The infographic is visually appealing and contains an appropriate amount of text. Sources are reliable and all are included on the infographic. . POINTS 15 /10 15 15 125 This assignment covers the following concepts from the Ministry of Education's guidelines for Physics 12: BIG IDEA: Forces can cause linear and circular motion. CONTENT: First Peoples knowledge and applications of forces in traditional technologies.
