The article states the following: “In the 10 years between 2011
and 2021, energy imports have dropped from 77% of trade to 62%. In
contrast, imports of manufactured goods, machinery and vehicles,
chemicals, raw materials and food and drink have all increased in
value over this period.”
Explain the potential reason(s) why EU energy trade with Russia
dropped in the past decade while imports of manufactured goods
increased.
