c) A cantilever reinforced concrete retaining wall is shown in Figure Q4 (c). The properties of the concrete are as follows: unit weight = 24 kN/m³ & friction angle at base = 25°. The properties of the soil are as follows: bulk unit weight = 18 kN/m³, cohesion = 0, internal friction angle = 35°. Limiting factor of safety for sliding and overturning are 1.5 and 2.5 respectively. A 25 kN/m² surcharge is imposed on the surface of retained soil. (CO2,PO3) (C4) Determine: i) ii) All the horizontal stresses, forces and moments developing behind the retaining wall. Evaluate the stability of the retaining wall against sliding and overturning only. The point of rotation is assumed about the toe 'O'.
