A rectangular beam 225 mm wide, 450 mm deep is reinforced at thebottom with 4-16-mm-diameter bars and at the top with 2-16-mm bars. Concrete cover to bar centroid at the top is 80 mm and at thebottom is 70 mm. Use concrete strength f’c = 21 MPa and steelyield strength fy = 415 MPa for 16-mm bars and fy = 275 MPa for16-mm bars. Calculate the tensile steel strain simultaneouswith concrete strain of 0.003 at ultimate stage when the beam issubject to negative bending. Write your final answer in 5decimal places in the format 0.xxxxx
