Q2 Figure Q2 shows a braced frame structure of a laboratory building. The connection between column is fixed at top and bottom. Bending moments for column B are My = 15 kNm (top) and 20 kNm (bottom) at negative and positive side respectively. Use concrete strength, fck = 25 N/mm².
(a) Calculate the design ultimate axial load for column B. Assume 4.5 m for beam span on z-direction to support the following floor loads. (6 marks)
3500 mm Gk = 10 kN/m (including self Qk = 12 kN/m Beam size = 150 x 250 mm y Z X 6000 mm weight) Gk = 12 kN/m (including self weight) Qk= 14 kN/m Beam size = 150 x 250 mm B Column size = 250 x 250 mm FIGURE Q2 7000 mm C
