A proposed pipeline, using 0.3m internal diameter PVC pipes, isbeing designed to carry asteady flow of water at a velocity of 2.5m/s where K = 2100 x 106N/m2. If the thickness ofthe pipes is 20mm calculate the additional surge head that will beexperienced following aninstantaneous valve closure. E for PVC is 26 x 108 N/m2 and you maytake c = 1450m/s.If the maximum static head on the pipeline is 9m and the maximumworking pressure of PVCpipes is 150m of water determine whether or not PVC is suitable forthis application.
