A continuous fermentation process of Lactobacillus Delbruck for the production of L-lactic acid was carried out in a Bio stat MCU-200 bioreactor (B. Braun, Germany), with pH 6, temperature controlled at 37BC and stirring speed of 300 rpm. The following data was obtained from the continuous culture of Lactobacillus Delbruck on glucose substrate of 50 g/L. a) b) Table 2: Profile of Continuous Culture X (g/L) (g/L) 5.4 D (h-¹) 0.05 0.1 0.15 0.2 0.3 0.35 0.4 0.45 0.5 5.68 5.42 5.28 4.04 3.99 3.48 2.71 1.82 P 37.35 36.46 33.02 31.65 27.85 25.5 22.3 17.34 11.35 S (g/L) Evaluate the maximum dilution rate and productivity value. 0.04 0.04 4.07 8.15 12.39 16.5 19.9 26.9 34.07 Determine the value of K, and μmax. Explain your answer in detail. c) Determine which dilution rate can be recommended for lactic acid production. Explain in detail.
