Exercise: POH Wet, dry and slug a) Calculate the volume of mud required to fill the hole if the entire string is tripped out wet. Well data 12% in hole to 10,550 ft Drill string 5 in drill pipe (ID 4.276 in, wt. 20.9 lb/ft) 8 in drill collars (ID 2¹3/ /16 in, wt. 150 lb/ft) Length 850 ft Drill pipe metal displacement Drill collar metal displacement 0.0076 bbl/ft 0.055 bbl/ft Use a pressure gradient of 0.65 psi/ft and a mud weight of 15ppg. b) If during a dry trip out job caused the bottom-hole pressure to drop by 2,000 psi, i) Estimate the level of fluid drop ii) Indicate if a kick would occur or not. Justify your answer iii) Estimate the total length of the drill pipe for a dry trip out c) Find the required slug volume for the dry trip out
