The first-order catalytic gas reaction A P is carried outusing a porous catalyst on which platinum (Pt) is coated on-alumina, with a specific surface area of 300 m2/g. The reactionis carried out in a differentially operated (low conversion)isothermal reactor at constant pressure. Four measurements havebeen carried out and the following results were obtained:
a) Motivate whether the reaction is limited by internal and/orexternal diffusion and whether the reaction is slow or fast.b) Estimate the activation energy (E) for this catalyticreaction.c) Determine the reaction rate at 500oC if a 1.0 mm catalyst isused and the inlet concentration of A is 40 mol/m3 at a flow rateof 1.0 L/min.d) As good and detailed as you can, what can you state aboutthe reaction rate at 450oC if a 2.0 mm catalyst was used and theinlet concentration of A is 40 mol/m3 at a flow rate of 1.0L/min?
