A (250 + 50A)mm x (450+ 50A)mm beam is carrying a total dead load of (40 + 12L) kN/m and superimposed live load of (72 +16L) kN/m all over the span of 6.0 m. The beam is restrained. The concrete to be used has strength of 28 MPa. The main reinforcement has yield strength of 420 MPa. Use steel cover of 75 mm. Using USD, 1. Determine the design moment that the beam will carry at the support. 2. Determine the required steel area. 3. Determine the number of 20 mm diameter bars in tension. 4. Determine the number of 20 mm diameter bars in compression. 5. Determine the design moment that the beam will carry at the midspan. 6. Determine the required steel area. 7. Determine the number of 20 mm diameter bars in tension. 8. Determine the number of 20 mm diameter bars in compression.
