A minimum of 45 m3 /s of air is required to ventilate a sectionof a mine which has a resistance of 0.4 Ns2 /m8 . Four Richardson1480 mm diameter fans are available, each with a pressure-quantitycharacteristic given in the table below:
It is proposed to install the fans in two parallel sets of twofans in series.
(i) what quantity of air will be delivered if all fans areoperating?
(ii) what will be the quantity of air delivered if one of thefans becomes inoperable?
(iii) if two fans become inoperable, how would you arrange theremaining fans and why?
