d. A centrifugal pump supplies water at the rate of 0.35 m³/s and the pressure difference across the pump is 490 kPa. The diameter and width of the impeller at outlet are 38 cm and 8 cm respectively. Blade thickness occupied 8 percent of the circumference flow area. Impeller inlet diameter is half of the outlet diameter. Total losses in casing and impeller are 8 percent of the head developed by impeller (i.e. Euler head). If the pump is working at 800 r.p.m., find: i. ii. iii. iv. the pump power input in horsepower HP, if overall efficiency is 75 percent the outlet blade angle the stability of the pump inlet blade angle if flow velocity is constant. Assumed zero whirl at inlet, suction and delivery pipe diameters are equal. (CO1 - 18 marks)
