a) The table below shows the devices available to design a GPON network that will provide 17 FTTH services and 15 corporate VPN services to subscribers. In the design the first splitter is 18 Km from the Optical Line Terminal, second splitter 40 km from the Optical Line Terminal and the third splitter 9 Km from the nearest splitter to the OLT. Node/device OLT 1:2 splitter 1:16 splitter ODF ODN ONT Quantity 1 1 2 1 1 32 i. Design a GPON network and explain in detail the downstream and upstream transmission of information on the network. ii. Clients connected to the third splitter cannot access services they subscribed to, due to suspected fiber link failure between first and second splitter. Using OTDR explain in detail process of locating the point of failure.
