A compound long shunt de generator (250V, 1000rpm) has armature resistance Ra-0.1562, series field winding resistance Rsr-0.2502, shunt field winding resistance and control resistance Rsh+Rc=10052, armature current is la 40 amps. The rotational loss is 500 watts. Neglect armature reaction and core losses. The machine operates at the full load (R₁ is the load resistance connected to the terminals). 1.1. Sketch a circuit diagram of the machine and corresponding clear power flow diagram. 1.2. Determine: (1) power loss in stator circuit, Pst (ii) power crossing the air gap, Pag (iii) electromagnetic torque, T and (iv) efficiency of compound de generator.
