8. Predict the number of loading cycles to failure for cortical bone loaded to -1200 uɛ (in compression). That was the peak strain in the tibia of a college student. After college she joined the military. During basic training while running many miles per week with a heavy backpack her peak strain increased to -3000 ue. Predict the number of loading cycles to failure for cortical bone loaded to -3000 us. Considering only the loading that occurred while running with a heavy backpack, how many miles did she run with a heavy backpack before her tibia fractured? Base your answer strictly on fatigue life estimations from ex vivo studies (ie, do not consider in vivo repair processes). Hint: loading cycles corresponds to a given leg; be sure to account for both legs in the mileage calculation.
