A study was conducted to examine the association between suntanning and skin cancer. All adults newly diagnosed with skin cancer in the Detroit metropolitan area are identified through the cancer registry and enrolled in the study. Adults selected using random digit dialing from the population living in the Detroit metropolitan area are included in the study as a reference group without the outcome of interest. All individuals in the study are then asked whether they have suntanned at least three times per week on average for at least three months in their lives (an exposure that happened in the past.) The following data was collected from this study. Calculate the odds ratio for the association between suntanning at least three times per week on average for at least three months and skin cancer. Give your answer to one decimal point (e.g. 8.2). Frequent Suntanning No Frequent Suntanning Skin Cancer 101 210 No Skin Cancer 19 308
